I am Mohammad Bazlul Huq Baizid, Chairman of Max Secure Limited. By a remarkable leap of fate, I entered Bangladesh’s private security industry in early 2009.
My journey began through the encouragement of my good friend, Mr. Sharif Shaham, after which I joined the renowned Elite Security Services Limited. During that important phase of my professional life, I had the privilege of being mentored by Brigadier General (Retd.) Sharif Aziz, Colonel Jahangir, Mr. Sharif Shaham Al Waffin, and many other distinguished former military officers who were my seniors, mentors and colleagues.
Their discipline, experience and commitment helped shape my understanding of security as a profession. Over the years, I also participated in numerous professional training programmes covering fire safety, human resource management, event security management, health, safety and environment, and other areas related to security operations.
In 2012, I founded Max Secure Limited with a very small office, limited resources and only two security guards. The early days were extremely challenging. We had no large infrastructure, no major client portfolio and no certainty about what the future would bring. What we did have was determination, purpose and a strong belief that a professional security company could create meaningful employment while protecting people, businesses and institutions.
From those humble beginnings, Max Secure Limited has grown into an organization with more than 2,000 security personnel deployed across different locations and industries. The journey from a small office with two guards to a larger corporate organization has been filled with struggle, sacrifice, learning, disappointment and achievement.
Behind every security company’s success stand thousands of security personnel whose contributions often remain invisible.
They work while the rest of us celebrate holidays with our families. They remain at their posts during heavy rain, floods, political unrest, natural calamities and national emergencies. They stand for long hours, protect lives and property, control access, prevent theft, respond to emergencies and frequently perform their duties under extremely difficult—and sometimes inhumane—conditions.
Yet security service remains one of the most thankless professions in our society.
Clients often expect uninterrupted service but fail to make payments on time. Delayed payments directly affect the salaries, food, accommodation, healthcare and livelihoods of security personnel and their families. Unfortunately, many people do not realize that behind every unpaid security bill is a guard waiting to receive his or her salary and a family depending on that income.
Security personnel are frequently assigned duties without adequate shelter, seating arrangements, washroom facilities, drinking water or protection from extreme weather. Despite their responsibilities and sacrifices, they often receive neither the respect nor the appreciation they deserve.
Government policies also need to become more supportive of this growing and essential industry. Minimum wage structures must be properly implemented, regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with current market prices and inflation. A security officer cannot be expected to protect valuable lives, properties and institutions while struggling to meet the basic needs of his or her own family.
I want to see a healthier, stronger and more professional private security industry in Bangladesh—an industry where security personnel are properly trained, fairly compensated, treated humanely and respected for the responsibilities they carry.
On International Security Officers’ Day, I urge every organization, client, employer and individual to take a moment and thank the security personnel who protect them every day.
A simple word of appreciation can mean a great deal to someone whose service is too often taken for granted.
To every security officer standing at a gate, patrolling a factory, monitoring a building, protecting an event, guarding a hospital, securing a bank or remaining alert while others sleep:
Your struggles are seen.
Your sacrifices are valued.
Your service is deeply appreciated.
You are not unnoticed.
